If battery life is the single thing you care about, nothing else Apple makes comes close, and you will carry every gram of it.

Two days is now normal
The aluminium redesign gave every 17 Pro more room for battery, and the Pro Max spent all of it. Two full days of messaging, maps and photography is now the baseline, and a single heavy day barely registers. This is the first iPhone in a long time where battery anxiety simply is not a factor.
Everything else is the 17 Pro, writ large
Same triple 48MP camera system, same A19 Pro, same excellent 100mm telephoto. The 6.9-inch panel is marginally bigger and brighter than the smaller Pro’s, and it is still the best screen on any phone for video.
The costs are the obvious ones: 233 grams is a lot of phone, one-handed use is a fantasy, and the 2TB tier pushes the price close to $2,000.
The good and the bad
What works
- Two-day battery life, comfortably
- The best phone display for movies and TV
- The full 17 Pro camera system
What doesn’t
- Heavy
- Expensive at the top tiers
- Charging is still slow for the battery size
Who it’s for
Buy it if endurance and screen size are your top two priorities and weight is not a dealbreaker.
Skip it if you want a phone you can comfortably use one-handed.
Alternatives worth a look
- iPhone 17 Pro, the same phone, smaller, lighter, cheaper, with about a day and a half of battery.
- Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, the big-screen Android answer, with an S Pen.
The verdict: The no-compromises iPhone for people who want the maximum of everything and will carry the weight to get it.
